Our culinary and less culinary discoveries in Playa San Juan with a view

Since we bought our flat in Playa San Juan in 2017, we have had the chance to explore the local food scene extensively. Every year, when we are on the Spanish coast, we make it a priority to try out the restaurants in the area, and we are increasingly impressed by the diversity and quality of the eateries.

From traditional Spanish tapas to modern fusion dishes, Playa San Juan has something for everyone. Our favourites include Casa Julio, where you can enjoy authentic Arroz a Banda with stunning sea views. The fresh seafood here is always a must, and the friendly atmosphere makes it a place where you feel right at home.

El Lloc is another place we frequent, especially for their delicious Calamares a la Andaluza. This deep-fried squid is perfectly crispy and a great addition to any meal. The restaurant offers a cosy ambience, ideal for a night out with friends or family.

We also enjoyed trying more casual eateries, such as Montaditos 100, where you can enjoy their versatile montaditos – small sandwiches with different fillings. These are perfect for a quick lunch or a cosy beachside snack.

When we are with the kids, we appreciate the simplicity of fast food options like Burger King and McDonald’s. Sometimes it is nice to have a quick bite to eat while the kids are playing at the beach. A burger or fries are then ideal for a quick snack so we don’t have to spend too much time eating. McDonald’s Spanish-influenced McIbérica burger is a surprisingly good choice for a quick and tasty break.

At Palapa Beach, we were introduced to their sushi rolls, a surprise for a beach restaurant. It is a perfect blend of Mediterranean and Asian flavours, and the ocean view completes the experience.

Every year we discover new gems, and we enjoy the constant evolution of local food culture. These culinary experiences make our winters in Playa San Juan even more special, and we always look forward to continuing our gastronomic adventure. With each meal, we enjoy not only the food, but also the warm Spanish hospitality and beautiful surroundings.
